Living in a season of waiting isn’t easy. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I can’t tell you how many times I have walked through a waiting season that seemed to have no end. No fairytale ending, no light at the end of the tunnel, and a sizable void of answers to every question and prayer I had prayed.
Can you relate my friend? It’s possible that you may be walking right in the midst of a waiting season as you read this. You can’t help but ask yourself questions like...
“Why me?, why now?, why this?”
“How will I ever get through this one?”
“Where will I get the finances to overcome?”
“Will my life ever be the same?”
“Does God even see me and this mess I’m in?”
Can I be real and just say that it seems more of my christian walk has been spent in the valley than on the mountain top? There is always something going on that’s out of my control! Circumstances that can’t be handled within my human strength, but can only be conquered by the strength of The Lord!
The last several years of my life have been a constant season of waiting. Living life day-by-day. Waking up each morning and declaring the word of God over my life and my circumstances, in hopes of receiving breakthrough that day! Yearning for answers to questions and patiently awaiting for Him to lead and guide my every step. I want to just say, though it can be, going through a season of waiting doesn’t have to be dark and depressing. You can choose to walk in peace, love, and joy even without clarity!
With that being said, I want you to understand something— the enemy has mastered the process of isolation! You know, making us feel like we are all alone in whatever we are walking through. Whether that be sickness, fear, mourning, lust, depression, addiction, and the list could go on for days. But, I want you to be confident in knowing, 𝐲𝗼𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐚𝐥𝗼𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝗼𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠!!!
I believe that we as Christians try not to expose our weaknesses for fear of judgement. We have to put on a façade so that others will see how perfect our lives are because after all, we are waking with Jesus! 𝙽𝚎𝚠𝚜 𝚏𝚕𝚊𝚜𝚑.... just because we are walking with Jesus doesn’t mean that our lives are perfect! We are still human, and just like the unbeliever, we still face obstacles! The only difference is we get to walk through them with Jesus!
I’m not going to sugar coat it, when I’m walking through a season of waiting, making it through each day is a victory! I stand on the promise of His mercies being new every morning! Hope begins to arise when I look back at all the times in my life where God has shown himself faithful. I have yet to remember a time when He failed me, not once! When I reflect on His goodness, it encourages me to press forward to finish the good fight of faith! I know that the seasons of waiting are not for torment (ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜ ɪᴛ ғᴇᴇʟs ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴡᴀʏ), but instead, to produce something within me, to increase my faith, and strengthen me for future battles set before me!
The Bible tells us that “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him...”— I trust that even in my seasons of waiting, He still has my best interest in mind! His plans for me haven’t changed, and He’s still on the throne.
Just like His loving and trustworthy Word says in Lamentations 3:22-23,
“The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
We should be anchored in that hope.
As hard as it may be sweet friend, I encourage you to keep seeking His face, and claim each passing day as a victory, because the day is coming when you will no longer be staring this giant in the face, but instead you will be seeing it in the rear-view mirror! Keep your precious heart on Him, because He is for you, not against you. The victory is surely yours!
In His Grip,
Sarah Abernathy
